The Winch Group was founded in 2008 and Total Eren invested in Winch's off-grid business (Winch Energy Limited) in March 2016. Winch Energy is owned jointly by Winch Partners Limited (Winch Management Team) and Total Eren S.A. (Total Eren).
We installed our 17kW and 30kW RPU's in Nimjat, Mauritania, in 2016. Nimjat has a population of around 1,500 people and our RPUs provide electricity through a mini-grid to the local school, the dispensary, the mosque, 70 houses and streetlights. We provide Wi-Fi access, DSTV and electric water pumping. The village leadership informed us that now, for the first time in about 100 years, they are expecting substantial migration back to the village.
